Diary of a Visual Eavesdropper
David Lorenz Winston
It's not comfortable for me to photograph people with their guard down, because I fear they might disapprove if aware of my intention. After all, my purpose is not to take idealized portraits, but to capture the range of what it is to be human. Exposing slices of life as they cross my plane of vision is extremely compelling. It energizes me and helps me to understand the interconnectedness that all of us share. "Diary of a Visual Eavesdropper" embodies special moments that I was fortunate to recognize and photograph. Three works were done by combining two photographs. Another blends three images.
