The 27 photographs in this edition were made during one week spent at the New Jersey Shores in the month of January, 2000. I wanted to explore the boardwalks from Cape May to Asbury Park during their hiatus from the summer season, allowing for the opportunity to see these locales in their simplest form, without the crowds they were designed to accommodate. This would allow me to search for a truer sense of place and to portray a personality based only upon the environment. An environment that throughout the last 100 years, tens of millions have enjoyed. Where working Americans traded their hard earned pennies, nickels, dimes, and now dollars for release from the daily routine. A place to bond with family and friends. A place to rejuvenate the souls of the country's largest metropolitan area. A place overused, ancient, tired. A place waiting, anticipating, resting.
